  1. Applicants should apply and submit most material through the MU Graduate School "Apply Yourself" program material will be available to the Departments promptly. Documents such as official transcripts etc. that are uploaded to an applicants file by the Graduate School, may be delayed due to the high volume of application materials being sent. The Graduate School has to process numerous information for several departments with similar deadlines. So please plan ahead. Read the following information application carefully and follow all directions that apply to your application status.
  2. You May Send the Department of Anthropology application (Word) Anthropology Teaching Assistant financial aid form (PDF) and Letters of Recommendation to Irsikc@missouri.edu, but your official transcripts & official GRE scores must be mailed to the address below:

  3. The Anthropology Teaching Assistant financial aid form deadline is February 1st every year.

  4. Or you may upload the following using the MU Graduate School's online application:
    • all official transcripts
    • completed MU Graduate School application
    • three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your academic history (generally former or present instructors) on letterhead from the institution or business of your recommenders.
    • required Departmental files (if your prefer)
    • include the application fee of $45.00 for domestic students or $65.00 for international students
    • official GRE scores (required by the Anthropology Department)
    • TOEFL scores (required of international students only)
  5. Mail a hard copy of your official transcripts and any other documents you would like to include to:

    Please note: the MU Graduate School requires each applicant to have on file an official copy of their final transcript, showing the date your degree was award. All application materials submitted will be available to Departments throughout the application process.
  6. Deadlines: Spring semester (spring semester begins in January): October 15, of the year prior to admission (no departmental financial aid available for this term). Fall semester (fall semester begins in August): January 10 of the year you wish to attend.

    This means that your file must be complete by the deadline above for admission consideration. Remember it is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure all required material necessary to complete their admissions file reaches the Department of Anthropology and the Graduate School by the stipulated deadline.
  7. Graduate students maybe eligible for various fellowships, scholarships, grants, and graduate teaching assistantships. If you intend to apply for any of these, you should apply as early as possible because deadlines vary, and are set by the Graduate School . In order to be nominated by the Anthropology Department for a Graduate School fellowship, you must have already been accepted by the MU Graduate School and Anthropology Graduate Program. For applicants who are applying for additional/other funding sources (i.e. student loans, pale grant, scholarships/fellowships) your file should be complete by date stipulated by providers.
