Graduate - The Department of Anthropology offers graduate work leading to the degrees of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy. The M.A. degree is designed to provide broad training in anthropology with the beginning of specialization in the student's chosen research area. The student proceeds to individual specialized study at the Ph.D. level. Undergraduate - The University of Missouri-Columbia Department of Anthropology offers three area program concentrations: general liberal arts BA, pre-professional BA, or Honors BA. Within each of these three programs, a student may select a subfield of emphasis: a) cultural or social anthropology, b) archeology, c) biological anthropology, d) anthropological linguistics, e) some combination of the above, or f) an interdisciplinary focus combining anthropology with some other area(s).
