My interests in anthropology are cultural evolution, especially the world-system which evolved after 1400 AD; the Third World and its relation to the world-system; the economic and political organizations of modern societies; and the interaction between biological and cultural factors, especially as these interactions affect population change. I retired in August 1997, and work part time at the Museum of Anthropology coordinating the repatriation of Native American human remains. I still advise students and enjoy serving on thesis and dissertation committees.
