Hello everyone, my name is Cynthia Irsik and I am the Administrative Assistant for the Department of Anthropology. I have been with the Department since Fall 2010, but have worked at the University of Missouri since 2006. Having worked in other departments on the Mizzou Campus and having been in the workforce for a very long time, I have brought considerable knowledge and experience to the Department of Anthropology. I am also a student, working toward my Bachelors Degree. Being a full time employee, part time student and a mother of two makes me: a Jack of all Trades, but Master of None and my favorite saying is "You don't stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing." This should give you an idea as to my personality.
My main duty is taking care of our 15 faculty, undergraduate and graduate students. This means copying, filing, answering phone, arrange meetings & events, prepare correspondence and answering or finding the answers to any and all question or inquiries. Meaning if you are confused, lost, need information or just need someone to talk too; I am a very good place to start. I can be reached at 573-882-4731 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi, everyone! As many of you know, I retired on February 1, 2008, with the agreement that I be allowed to work part-time. I love it. Basically I work 3 days a week; Tuesday through Thursday. I began working on campus in 1969 and in this department in 1971. I started out in Gail's position which was clerk-typist at that time. My main duty is assisting the department chair. This includes maintaining all department accounts and all grants, processing all appointment papers for faculty, staff, and students, assisting with preparation of grant proposals, developing course schedules, and many other duties.
One of the main reasons I wanted to continue to work part-time for awhile is being with the students. I enjoy meeting all the new students and keeping in touch with those who have gone on. You all mean so much to me, so please keep in touch. Please contact me if you have questions, need information, etc., that I may be able to help you with.
The photo above shows me and my grandchildren (Shelby, Cody and Brett) enjoying one of my retirement gifts from the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends – A HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE! Thank you all – I will never forget it! My husband David, and son & his wife, Brian and Jeannie assisted as chasers and photographers. Contact me at PorterMI@missouri.edu.
